Supervision

Supervision

I completed my Certificate in Supervision in 2010 with the Centre for Supervision & Team Development (now CSTD London and CSTD Bath).

I offer regular monthly supervision to qualified and trainee psychotherapists or counsellors. I also provide reflective supervision to a wide range of other professionals. Past supervisees include social workers, psychologists, mental health nurses, managers of small/ medium size organisations.

I keep brief notes of supervision sessions. GDPR requirements apply.

Supervision offered, like therapy, is rooted in the relationship. Focusing on process, rather than largely exploring technical

skills or client problems, is central. Building a collaborative relationship based

on trust, including using “here-and-now” interactions between supervisor and

supervisee to support deep reflection, is at the core of supervision offered.

Finding ways to have an open dialogue which promotes authenticity, whilst

acknowledging and working with power differences, hopefully supports practitioners

to be more authentic when relating to clients.

Approaching supervision in this way offers opportunities to explore practice safely, consider ethical issues and learn from “mistakes” without fear or shame, enhance skills and consider self-care. As an independent supervisor I am not responsible

for your job performance, number of clients, your practice or, where applicable, meeting your training requirements. I am responsible for holding the space as you explore, learn and grow in ways that support your work

with clients.

Supervision Fees

I offer regular monthly supervision via Zoom for 60 or 90 minutes per month.

Hourly Rate £70 (£105 for 90 minutes).

Concessions are available for charities and for trainee counsellors or psychotherapists. Please contact me if you would like to discuss cost.

In addition to ongoing supervision, I provide one-off supervision sessions. These can be useful for psychotherapists, counsellors, and other professionals working with adults who would like to consult about a specific client or issue outside their usual supervisory relationship.

Examples of one-off topics

  • Managers of small to medium organisations (e.g. charities) working with challenging inter-personal dynamics or organisational blocks.
  • Work with people who have experienced sexual violence.
  • People in early recovery (adapting) following addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Those experiencing complex grief.

You can contact me by email using this contact form. I am the only person that has access to my emails.

When you contact me, please let me know your name and provide a telephone number which you are happy for me to use to contact you (e.g. if we have technical issues).

I usually reply within 48 hours (weekdays) unless I am away. If I am away, you won’t receive a response to your email until I am back at work.

If you contact me and leave an email, I will assume it is ok to get back to you. If you don’t want me to reply to your email or ring you back (e.g. if I need to use your phone number in a remote session due to tech issues), please tell me. If this is the case, I will wait for you to re-contact me.
